My buddy Paul put me in touch with the talented folks over at Shark Teeth Films, who were kind enough to let me contribute to the project. I've been designing the locations and painting the backgrounds. Music videos are some of my favourite projects to work on - I only wish they came up more often!

Here are a few of the finished backgrounds. You can see some more of my background paintings at the Shark Teeth Films blog, as well as some concept/color pieces that I originally pitched, along side a bunch of other development for the video. I'm lookin forward to seeing the whole thing together. I'll try to post it up here when it's done.

If you're in or around the Brantford Ontario area, come check out the Brantford Arts Block on October 9th for the opening of a group show entitled "Deck The Walls", which runs through November 1st. The exhibition will consist of art on and about skateboards. I'll be showing 4 portraits, all of which are oils painted on skate decks. I'll also be painting a 6x12ft installation prior to the show. For the opening they'll be showing a time lapse video of the painting of the installation.

Here's a preview of one of the decks. I'll try my best to share some nice photos of the whole series, once the show has opened.

Needless to say I'm pretty excited about this. I really hope I'm able to set aside more time for fine arts in the future - I feel like gallery work is a natural progression from what I've been doing lately. Hope to see some friendly faces at the show!

I haven't posted much lately. Mostly because I've been spending my free time putting together a comic for The Anthology Project. I'm having a lot of fun with it, but it's also taking up a fair amount of time. I'll make sure to let everyone know when the book is available, but keep an eye out for it early in the new year. In the mean time though, it'll be getting representation at a few comic conventions between now and then, where there'll be previews of the upcoming work.

Some parts of the site are still being tinkered with, but on the whole i'm much happier with the new design. I'm also with a host that makes my life a whole lot easier. I've got a bunch of new art to share with everyone too, so keep an eye out. After the website is fully functional I'll start posting new pictures. 

Sadly my old webhost deleted my last blog before I could grab an up to date backup.. so if you commented over the past few weeks and it's not showing up any more, that's what happened. I had to restore from a backup about a month old. Hopefully that won't happen again now that I've switched hosts.

I thought I'd share a selection of my Thursday night drawings from the past couple months, as a small retrospective.

I don't think I've posted life drawing since college. One of the things I've really come to enjoy about life drawing outside of a school environment is the complete freedom to explore. With no portfolio looming down the road I've been a lot more comfortable exploring in ways I wouldn't have been, back in school.

For the past six months I've been working at Elliott Animation as a location designer, on a show called Total Drama Action - the second season of Total Drama Island. The designs for season one were great, so I was more than excited to pick up the style. I'm pretty thankful for having an exceptionally talented crew to be a part of. Mark Thornton and Todd Kauffman have been amazing directors. Martin Smith's art direction constantly leaves me humbled. Designing locations day to day with Ed Lee and Pete Ventura has been one of the best work experiences I've had. I could go on and on.

As well as the individual episodes, I had a hand in designing a bunch of the locations for the opening sequence. It's exciting to see what happens with my art further down the pipeline. Have a quick look at the opening sequence on youtube:

The show premiered on Sunday Jan 11th, and is currently airing on Teletoon here in Canada. Keep an eye out for it! After a few episodes have aired I'll try to share some more of my designs.
